Decatur Police say they learned on June 12, 2026 of possible misuse of the department's automated license plate recognition system by an officer. The department opened an Internal Affairs investigation, and Chief Torry Mack asked the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to conduct a separate investigation into whether criminal violations occurred.
